We asked Edmund Rhodes, for some tips and advice about selecting and working with wedding photographers, and he provided great answers!
Reunion: What advice would you give to a Bride and Groom for hiring a photographer?
Edmund: When considering a photographer making a great connection and having chemistry with each other is a must. During the day of your wedding everything is going fast and a good photographer that you connect with will be able to dial in on your emotions for the great pics. Having a photographer that you sync with will be a valuable relationship to have during the flow of your entire wedding day.
What is a wedding photography trend that you are seeing for this year?
We are defiantly noticing 2 trends for 2014 that are happening.
First, couples are choosing to have smaller bridal parties. 3-5 bridesmaids or groomsmen are becoming the norm.
Second, smaller guest counts. We actually are seeing the numbers drop to a 55-90 count average vs. last year’s 110-175. Couples are telling us that they want the quality vendors and great venues in lieu or large guest lists which can become a budget burden.
What tips do you have for the Bride and Groom when taking their engagement and wedding photos?
Talk with your photographer on what your expectations are. With the age of Pinterest it can be a great place to get ideas BUT be realistic. With only an hour average for formals and family photos you want your photographer to get the best quality not the most quantity. Also, we recommend that your go over your family photo sets with your photographer as well. Weddings are like family reunions and a great opportunity to make the life long memories.
What are some favorite locations at Reunion Resort to take pictures?
Locations I like are by the gardens in Linear Park across from the resort as well as the Palmer Course Bridge that runs across the water about five minutes away from the main property. Finally the Grande Lawn at dusk with Reunion Grande in the back drop is a stunning evening shot with my couples.
What is one piece of advice you would give to a Bride and Groom for their wedding day?
Hire topnotch vendors… This does not necessarily mean you will need to expand your budget to get great vendors but it will promise you the skill and professional experience that is required to fulfill your special day. If a problem or issue arises on your day a highly experienced wedding professional with have the knowledge and experience to circumvent and/or resolve the problem without disrupting the flow of your day. Professional wedding experienced vendors really count on your special wedding day!
A big thank you to Edmund and the Rhodes Studios Team for your stunning photography!
